Default C4 on a budget

Hey guys just starting to do my ls swap, my goal is to do this only spending around 1000-1500.....how you say?

I have been deal hunting for the past few months and this is what i found.

5.3 on ebay $131.45
02 Z28 wiring harness and pcm $100
LS1 vette manifolds $40
stand alone wiring harness fab kit $100
Motor mounts $50
Oil pan $165
255 fuel pump $75
Engine shipping $200 (forgot that)
LS1 intake $25
HotCam $110
Ls6 springs $55

the 85 vette i bought had just had the tranny rebiult with 2800stall so going to use that.
Also new exhaust with true duel set up.

You might be able to do it for that price, but it will be pretty difficult. When I did mine it cost me 2600 including the engine and trans, I paid 1000 for the engine and trans and it cost 1600 for the rest of the stuff to put it in. But you are starting out with more of the stuff that you need than I did, you already have an EFI fuel tank, electric fan setup, etc.

I`m keeping an open ear though........I just picked up a 84 vette last saturday.....and it has a rodknock.....

For now I am actually going to put the cease-fire back together. I have a spare 350 sitting in the garage and I kinda need to get the car running.....theres 6 cars in the driveway right now and its not a very big driveway. I want to do a LS series swap into the vette eventually though. But I don`t have the room to do it now because the garage is way too small......at this point you can`t walk into the garage without climbing over/onto stuff.

I figure I can flip the old motor out and another 350 in on a saturday in the driveway, so that at least the car will run. Doing engine swaps in the driveway is getting old....this would be the 4th one in 2 years (Elcamino after I blew up the first LS series motor, the 4.3L chevette, I just put a 305 into my jetboat, and now the vette)

Man, I'd LOVE to do this swap. Please keep us posted. My old lady's 79 year old grandma has a MINT C4 with like 34k miles on it. Makes my mouth water...even in all my LS1 glory

Then again, I am a former thirdgen guy. Guess I just love tuned port injection.

Guessing you have AL motor...not Iron.

My 77 C3 LS1 swap ended at 3150lbs without me...

late 70s's vettes have more weight that early 70s vettes...

I plan to pull out sway bay... A/C... and front crash bar. hopefully drop another 150lbs.

BTW...running low 12 with just a 224 Cam. no headers ...no pulley... and a HOLLEY DP CARB

LOL

well im shooting for 2900 with me in it, i only wiegh 150lbs. im hope for some 11's on the bottle. But im more interested in blowing it down the highway right now, i am going to leave the 3.31 gears in it.

2900lbs + 330hp + 150shot +3.31gear....should really move at 70mph

How did you shave 600lbs off without stripping it? Well, actually 600+you. They are 3400lbs stock. These cars have very little to remove for weight (all weight is in the structure) . Completely stripping the car, replace back window and carbon fiber hood and I don't think that would even get it sub 3k.
