Polite request, IM's and posts in general..
Call me old fashioned but I'm a big fan of polite courtesy.
If you poll someone for information and you get back a response be it lengthy and well thought out ,or just a quick bit of info you requested.
It's usually a good policy to at least shoot off a quick "Thanks" or "Thank you", maybe even "thanks I appreciate it".
I try and give any info I know (or think I know) to people when they ask, and I always try and be sure to thank anyone who contributes knowledge to me.
When you don't get any appreciation in return, it just makes you think why even bother.
Maybe I've just been in customer service too long.
Sorry for the rant.
Thanks for your time,
~D
