Default Poor cam results

Well long story short... 1999 NBM TransAm M6, Torquer V3 231/234 .643/.598 111lsa, LS6 Intake, Ported TB, PS LT, PS ORY, Cutout, SLP Lid

Car dynoed:
366.8@6200 HP DYNOJET
353.5@4700 TQ

Went to the track 2.3479 60' 13.265@ 112.84 on street tires.

After about 10 runs back to back it got really hard to shift. I let it cool down for 25 mins and went for another run and I shifted it into 3rd and there was resistance the whole time and when I pulled it out there was resistance (not just a click or tough point) the whole pull back into neutral. Think it went in between gears or bent a shift fork, I dunno. Regardless I didnt let out the clutch and it shifts fine now(this was the last run though). This is a Tick Perforamce 750hp built tranny. I am going to look into ways to insulate the clutch line.

Also I was launching at 1750 rpms and gradually releasing the clutch and still having traction problems(doing throttle blips until I got traction. Every run I got a little sideways in second. Shift light set to 6500 and I hit the rev limiter at 6700 quite a few times.

Any comments and ideas what I could run with better tires?

you should be closer to 400whp with that setup, something isnt running right, bad tune perhaps? where is your dyno chart? with current setup and 112mph trap you should be in low 12's with a decent (sub 1.8 60's) launch though.

I have upgraded to 28.8 lb injectors since my 26 were at 105% duty cycle since the tune/dyno.

well 28lbs is still not enough, I think you want a 80% duty cycle max. I would look into some 42lbs, especialy if your going to add to it, like heads?

Right now I am saving for a bike so I don't plan on any mods anytime soon, althought I think I will probaly get it retuned with the new injectors.

i installed a torquer v3 in a 2002 camaro for a customer
he only laid down 348 to the rear wheels on a dynojet
but he ran 12.16 at 111 with a 1.7 60 ft with a yank 4000 and bfg drag radials

I would be happy getting into 12's so I am going to keep working at that and then be done for a while.

Also it was about 90 degree and 60% humidity so I think I got a little bit of room to improve there as well.

both numbers seem really low, track, and dyno.... of course that 2.3 '60 isnt helping matters... cutting that down alone would get you into the 12's

Yeah, but its been done before with better results. And these heads can make more power than this. Oh well it happens lol.

Power and torque peak too late for the intake. Try advancing the cam 4 degrees. Bet you drop and tenth or two in ET.

Could it be it was ground incorrectly and thats why I would have to advance it? Instead of dot to dot like most DIY do. I can't just advance it as I don't have a degree wheel or a garage at my house... but I do have access to one.

I understand that advancing it might be the correct thing to do, but I realy dont see it as an option for me. If I do decide to do heads down the road I will do it then and invest in a degree wheel, but now its not worth it for me.

What else would I expierence from advancing it, other than peak power earlier. Would it idle differently, or anything else? More intake reversion and what not?

Thanks

....I wish there was less useless post like this and more helpful post like PatrickG's and the others that responded to this thread. Telling people they just need to learn how to drive their car isn't helpful.

i would look at some bigger injectors, at least 36# - and another tuner, as well. no tuner should've let your car out the door with 105% idc.

i'd guess with a decent tire on the car you could go about a second quicker in the 1/4 with that mph. i would expect the mph to increase with traction, as well.

True, but that doesn't change the fact that his dyno numbers are low and his power curve is off.
