As long as you break traction you should be good to go. Out of my friends with F-bodys, and myself, we have had pretty good luck. One guy has a full exhaust trans am that broke the posi unit in 4th gear at the track, another one has a full exhaust Z28 that broke the posi unit past the 1000ft at the track. Both cars are still driving around just fine. They are in 1 wheel peel mode though. No one has broken one on a launch or burnout. As long as your not dumping the clutch on sticky tires it "should" (*note I said SHOULD, you never know) last a good while.

i agree with FMX05. however, if your rear end runs synthetic, dont ever let anyone put regular gear lube back in as it will, repeat, WILL result in bearing failure. had a mechanic put on an axle girdle and drained out my mobil 1 and put in regular gear lube causeing my pinion bearing to fail and broke two teeth off the pinion gear. then let some retard install my gears and he did a lousy job, and the car just grenaded the rear end lastnight. been a wonderful weekend. but fear not, cause he will make it right, or face my lawyer. however, prior to the gear oil foul up, the rear end was strong and i put it through hell and back. just a lil input for ya

Default stock 10 bolt

I use to beat mine up with drag radials and 4.10 gears until I broke the spider gears after 3 times at play. So all in all it was a good excuse to get the 9". LOL! Beat the hell out of it and it always laughs at me

We have customers beat up their 10 bolts all the time. That is why we've sold so many Moser units this year.

Synthetic or not, it doesn't really matter. It's the install that blew up your rearend. I've had different gears on my stock 10 bolt---installed properly. Knock on wood... it's still going!

Beat mine daily but i'm a stalled auto. went through 3 sets of nitto555's and on my first set of m.t. e.t.'s I snapped every tooth off my pinion gear and twisted my driveshaft, that was with 102k miles on the clock...

You gotta search!!!!!! Theres alot of posts concerning your question. But since you asked ,heres your 2 options 1. drive your car normally, 2.save money for rear end repair, trailer, towing fees or new stronger rear. Don't waste your time investing any money into your 10bolt because in the end you'll need a different one always. Some may say thiers holds up just fine, but they are treading on thin ice. If you want to play, your gonna pay! simple as that.

Beat the crap outta that sucker. 87,000 miles, 320 passes at the strip, countless launches/burnouts on the street. Still going, it's whining like hell, but still going.

Will get a rebuild in September/October. I'm finally gonna have the cash to do it and do it right.

For an auto, don't buy an aftermarket rear unless you do some SERIOUS power upgrades, or break more than twice.

i went through 10 bolts like water, i have a H/C ls6 with a m6 and i never even ran on bias ply tires. i usally get 2k street miles and 3-6 4k launches at the track on drag radials. i never snapped an axle but i popped both the zexal torson and auburn carriers. i tried a girddle, differrent gears, all the same outcome. the girddle buys you some time but sometimes the girddle goes when the rear blows. now my girlfriend has a H/C a4 car that she daily drives and races all the time and she never snapped a rear yet(knocking on wood). hers a completly stock 10 bolt with 3.42 gears out of a m6 camaro. she had her car for almost 3 years now and had the heads and cam for year.

Up intill last weekend when i took my 10 bolt out i beat the crap out of it. I have about 500 hp and am on street tires, so me getting on it is lots of wheel spin. If i had a tire on it, the rear would be broken. I had 4.10 gear, and a linelock. So far so good, but gear was setup good, and never any whine. I also have a m6 with dfx clutch

my 10 bolt was 1 and done at the track. First attempt and she blew up off the line.

405rwhp A4... bolton, cammed and stalled-3600 on nitto 555Rs.

i had NEVER beat up on this rearend before that first trip to the track and the car had only 34,000 miles on it. Its just hit or miss some are luckier than others.
