Default Ever seen this? Broke my swaybar bracket. Pic

I was cruising around in my car this weekend and decided to launch it from a stoplight. I launched it, and the tires spun (not normal for the amount of throttle i gave it) and I heard a funny banging sound, I got home, and the damn bracket had let go on the swaybar! I didnt think these things had any real load on them, what gives?

BMR has some sick looking new billet ones but they are only sold as a set which includes everything but the bar for 185..

If you had some severe 'wheel hop' during that launch, could happen.Wheel hop=traction/no traction=suspension loading/unloading=rearend moving up and down violently in relation to the frame/body.

It's common. I've done it. A broken front swaybar bracket causes drastically ill effects on rear traction and just messes up the whole car's handling.

I bought stock swaybar bracket replacements and had them boxed. Problem solved.

On my '89 Formula Firebird. I went to the dealer and bought the front "straps" (like what you broke) 8 at a time. I used to break them on the front of that car all the time. It's not common, but it does happen.

The upgraded ones you mentioned on frrax are actually the front "bases" that the part shown bolts to. They are known to crack on the front of a 4th gen. It's not the part shown for the rear (just wanted to clarify).

YEs, I think it was that I talked to about these Dennis, i'd love to have the billet brackets but am not rich enough to justify the 180 when I dont need anything but those two pieces. Thanks for all the help you did give me though, ive got the new energy suspension pieces on the way

No wheel hop here, the car has all tubular suspension pieces and the Extreme rear sway bar, the thing just snapped!
