Default poly/poly or poly/rod LCA's?

I'm thinking of getting some LCA's for my '99 Z28, probably from UMI. It's my DD and I never go to the strip.

I'm concerned about ride quality. I heard LCA's can worsen it quite a bit, especially the rod/rod.

So I hesitate between poly/poly and poly/rod. Which of the 2 will be the quietest and will bring the least vibration?

Hello, the poly/poly will be your quietest set, you will also feel least amount of road noise through that combination as well.

a lot of people who know a whole lot more than me about suspensio will tell you that poly poly doesn't allow for necessary movement and will put added stress on certain parts. i went with poly poly and i'm happy with them. made the ride a TINY bit stiffer, and you only hear them if you hit a huge pothole or something. completely eliminated wheel hop. almost have too much traction. pretty hard to peel out without the brake. turning feels a lot better too but i've now heard that they cause the rear end to let go somewhat prematurely. the only two times i've lost it around turns since i got these all 4 wheels let go at the same time so i'm not quite sure if anything can be blamed on the LCA's. can't really say anything about rod ended but from what i've heard they're a LOT louder, and more expensive

Keep the poly/poly greased well and you shouldn't have any major issues.

I have poly/rod and they are noisy as hell!!! Go poly/ poly for a DD. I think I'm going to buy some poly/poly and sell these.

I had poly/rod UMI's in my DD for about a year. The road noise and banging was too much. I got a set of UMI poly/poly's and it is soooooo much quieter. For a DD poly/poly is the way to go.

Poly/poly will be the quietest, but poly/rod is what you need if you want it to handle the absolute best. Having had and driven both, I can definitely tell when and where the poly/poly combo binds going around corners. The poly/rod doesn't do that at all.

When my car was a DD, I put up with the binding for the quiet ride (poly/poly for me). Now that it is my garage queen/nice day only car, poly/rod is what I use, and the noise doesn't bother me since I'm not listening to it two to three times a day.

I went with rod/rod LCAs and PHB and didn't notice too much addition noise or harshness when compared to my old poly/poly bars. If you are going from rubber/rubber to rod/rod it will be a big difference but you might as well get the best performing pieces now, you'll get used to it over time anyways.

Thank you so much for all your advice! This site is so useful for making the right decisions. I'm gonna go with poly/poly, which I think suits my needs the best

I recommend the poly/poly as well for your set-up... they are very quiet and streetable and will not cause any road noise.

If you have any questions regarding our set-up please ask. Thanks!
Ryan
