cam/dyno tune question

Default cam/dyno tune question

i did a quick search, couldnt find what i needed and the shop workin on my car was closed by the time i got a chance to call so i need yall to help me out......is it a necessity to run 93 octane with a full bolt on/cam ls1 with a dyno tune?

dude you cant even buy 93 where Im from! Here the best you can get most anywhere is 91. Your tuner can tune the car to run on just about anything, but you will get a much better tune with higher octane fuel. Just spend the extra .20 bucks a gallon and do the right thing, get premium fuel!

yea in texas we have 93, or at least where i am. may as well get it, its ends up being like 3 dollars more a tank.

its not that i dont want to its that the car is at the tuners now and i forgot to fill it up with 93 the day i dropped it off, because i guess i was so excited....thats why i wanted to make sure it wasnt goin to affect anything

Don't get too worried about it. If the tuner added timing and the engine doesn't like the octane you are running, it will pull timing until its happy again. Just run the good gas later if he actually adjusts the timing for high octane. If he doesn't set it up for 93, you don't have to do anything.

awesome thanx guys....that makes me feel a lot better!!! i should be pickin up the car today with the cam installed and tuned!!! im friggin stoked!
