Default coolant flow

On a LS1, which set of openings from the water pump to the block does the coolant flow into and out of, the square or round holes?

From what I have read,if looking at the block with the pump off, the upper ports (on each side) are going to the pump/radiator and the lower ports flow coolant from the pump and then into the block.

Per the GM LS1 engine kit installation guide:
The Gen III/IV uses Conventional coolant routing. Coolant enters the block through the lower holes in the water pump and circulates around the cylinder barrels. Coolant is then routed throught the cylinder heads and exits the block throught the upper wanter pump holes.

The Thermostat is also on the suction side of the system as compared to a Gen I SBC.

Hint: Use the search on the internet also.. and try researching on other printed articals.

So I should have my remote pump, pump the coolant into the lower square holes and then from the top round holes the coolant will go back to the radiator?
