I think that cam will work well in a 383. You will def need chromoly hardened push rods. Make sure to check all of your clearances (ptv, rod to block, rod to cam, etc). Good luck.

I would try to find a kit from a sponsor that has the pr's, springs, TI retainers, locks, etc.

Why the hell do people go to lengths to build custom strokers, then use some off the self crap?

Get a cam cut to your needs, your motor, and your head flow

Stop wasting your time with off the shelf stuff

Well the GMPP rockers wont work with it, the titanium retainers one poster recommended are pretty much a waste given the price and tiny weight reduction. But hell if you are going to go halfassed, don't let us talk sense into you.

I thought that people ran the TI retainers for increased strength for the higher spring rates and seat pressures?

i always wanted to see somebody use xfi 292 effectively. fergymoto (sp) had one in his lt1 and it sounded awesome. my roommate nutted when he heard it. heres a clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bh7vQnOEiEU. i believe he said that the 292 was way to ****** big for a 350 and a mild headed 383.

you need a very solid valvetrain and some very good flowing heads to use this cam for a 383. but i would recommend a custom grid also.

When fergymoto tried it he found that at 7000rpm it still had not peaked so he has admitted it was a mistake.

Titanium retainers arfe for weight savings BUT the beehive retainers are so small and light that there is little weight to be saved.

Like I said, the rockers wont work and I think you will be better off if I make you work for that info, maybe uyou will learn how to do meaningful research then and not make bad choices like you have sofar.

You will need to get a PR measureing tool for $12 to confirm what length PR you need. The cam you picked has high lift and depending on how much your heads are milled and head gasket thickness your PR length to achieve valve train geometry that is correct needs to be confirmed

Comp Pro Mag 1:6 RR would be my pick. Go NSA and use hardened guide plates ISKY makes adjustables which allow perfect allignment. Do not use GM guide plates with hardened PR's.

Trick Flow (or other brand) PR are good. Get .080 wall PR's 5/16" tube. I went with these but you need to confirm length first

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...0&autoview=sku

I would also go with 7/16" RR studs

Set your bee hives up at 1.800" installed height which means your spring pockets need to be machined down. Go with 1/4 turn lash

That's the spirit, when someone tries to stiop you from messing things up attack them. Far as good stuff there is goo stuff besids AI, the Lingenfelter stuff is good. I can think of some guys doing hand porting that do good but most of you are so sucked in my marketing that you buy garbage marketed well.

Have you looked into my comments on the rockers?? You should, ignoring me will break parts.

After you sort out those broken parts and if the engine survives such then you ill find a piece of info Roger here offered is wrong but it will only cost performance, not be fatal like the other major mistake.

It is a must that you check piston to valve clearance with that cam due to the long duration. It did not clear on my 350 with stock pistons. It did run good in my buddy's stock headed 383 surprisingly, but there are better choices out there. It still had to be spun to 7,000 even in the 383. For $100 more, go custom. Talk to Bret Bauer or AI like caprice said.
