Default Borla exhaust question (pipe missing??) stock y

Okay, I just bought a used borla adjustable system and just have a quick question.

This is the exhaust set up in my bedroom (I think thats right)

Now, my question is, I have seen pictures as in:

which has an extra pipe seen on the far top left corner, but I've also seen some pictures without that pipe such as

Question: Do I need that seemingly missing pipe to hook up to a stock y-pipe/headers??

If so, how would I go about correcting this missing pipe?

The original owner states that the pipe never came with his Borla and he bought it new; I am not doubting him as he is a good guy. I'm just wondering why I'm missing a pipe

Did the original owner have his bolted up no problems? I have the same cat-back and that looks like it should work, it was already installed though so i'll look under the car tomorrow and make sure for you.

I think that extra pipe is for an LT1.

Just to be certain before I take apart my car for no reason.

In its current state this will bolt on to a stock LS1, correct?

Just installed it yesterday... its not okay.

I needed that missing pipe or else the exhaust wouldn't come back enough to go over the axle and in general would not installed. I fabricated my own fix with the stock I-pipe. Took an electric saw to the I-pipe and measured the correct distance form the borla pipe to the y-pipe and cut it and connected it to the borla/y-pipe with clamps. Everything seems to be fine now. Just gonna go underneath the car and align the exhaust/tips a bit better some time soon and wire the cutout. (wheres the best place to run the wires?)
