wont the shift table need to be recalibrated for the different gears?

I saw a camaro once set up for 3.42's and had 3.23's in it. had problems hitting the rev limiter between shifts.

I wouldn't do that. I'd wait & get the gears installed the day before your tune is scheduled. I'd imagine there is more to be done than just the speedo when on a auto car.

what needs to be changed is the spedo calibration, TCC tables, Part throttle shift tables, and full throttle shift tables. You can drive the car with no problems and it won't hurt anything though but It will not shift correctly at WOT, shift harder at part throttle and will put miles on the car faster than it should.

you can buy a used crappy hand held tuner cheap to calibrate for gears for now,
then just sell it later. I did that and sold it for what i paid for it after i got it tuned .

Are you for real about putting miles on the car faster?

That's the stupidest thing I have ever heard. My 3.73 on the hwy hardly change much at all. Yeah, it's worse but not a huge change. I got sweet mileage with my 3.23 on the hwy.

Yes it will.. because the pcm will think the car has a 3.23 or 2.73 or whatever gear but in reality you will have a 3.73. that difference in the actual gear vs what the PCM thinks you have will cause the spedo to run faster than your actual speed and run the odometer faster. example... for every 100 actual miles you drive it will show as 110 miles.

True...i ran mine untuned for a year and when i was going 70 the car showed 80 so the odometer thought i was traveling further.
