Is anything free anymore? Buy EFI Live and I'll tell you how to change the spedo free of charge.

I'd change the speedo after a gear swap for a local guy for free.
I wouldn't do much as far as tuning.

well this sounds like alot $549 but now I can tune both of my cars. It was worth every penny if you ask me. My problem was that there wasn't any tuners near me to I would of had to travel a long way just to get my car tuned. If you only need to change the spedo and not mess with the rest of the tune then a tuner shouldn't charge much to change that. If you plan on future mods then I would just buy the software yourself. It all depends on what your plans are for the car

Ever hear the saying, "If you can't afford the maintenance, don't buy a Ferrari" before??? Same theory applies here.

Ask around, someone locally will tune for the gear change, usually for free.
I got my first tune trans shift point change for free by someone on this board. I seen him use the tuning stuff so I decided to save up and buy the same. Since then I've tuned little things for a few people for free.

That works great if the person has a 97 or 98 with EFI Live because it doesn't require a licsense to tune 97-98 cars but 99 and up do so then ya have to buy the liscense wich costs about 100 bucks.. I'm not sure how HP tuners works with the liscense

Well the OP looks to have a '98 up f-body.
I see it all the time-people asking for a small thing tuned from someone local. Obviously if you need to buy a license you don't respond to peoples requests.
But if you have something like HPTuners and you can tune a LS1 camaro of the year someone needs tuned then you can do it.
I have HPTuners for 2002 LS1 f-body, and 2004 GTO, I can tune a million of each, it's unlimited. In that case someone with a 2002 that needed a speedo change that lived 10 -20 miles away maybe offer to help. If not don't offer.

You can usually get someone with some extra licenses left over in your regional section to change your calibration for new gear/tire for the cost of the license give or take. I used to do them for $130. Otherwise tuning software such as ours(which starts at $499) will do what you want as well. Many companies that do mail order tuning do gear/tire changes very cheap as well since is quick & easy to do.

yea very true. I have done some changing for people around that have the 97-98 cars since it doesn't cost anything but if it's newer then I wouldn't even consider it since they would have to buy a liscense. It would be differant if they had alot more done to their car and needed more changed than just a spedo. I would feel bad charging somebody $100 "price of license" just to change the spedo.

But once they are licensed, you can help them out when they start modding more.

OP - May be difficult to find a free tune, but if you check around you'll probably be able to find someone to help you out for a reasonable price.

take it to the dealer and have them hook the tech2 to it that can correct it as long as the car has a had that gear ratio option in it ie: 02 camaro 3:43, 3:73 and so on. they might even not charge you

I didn't think any fbodies had a 3.73 option from the factory meaning a dealer couldn't do much of anything for him.

For the cost of a license?
I don't get it. With my HPTuners I've tuned stuff in several LS1 f-bodies that are the same year as mine.
I wouldn't charge even a stranger $130 for less than 10 minutes of work sitting in a car punching numbers into a laptop.

I guess the almighty dollar rules some peoples world. Good luck to the OP.
