what color insert I can't decide on what color to go with when I do the "Berger" mod. I was originally thinking chrome but also think charcoal/gunmetal would look good, a bit more subtle. I am going to do the panel in satin if that helps any.

The insert or the panel itself? If you are referring to the panel I know it won't be real noticeable, but I like the look and all of a sudden there are 3 nbm Camaro's around here and I want to do something to keep mine different.

Match the color of your wheels (i.e. go with chrome if you got chrome, SS is you have painted wheels, etc). I also agree with those above that berger mod doesn't make much sense on a NBM.
