Default USAFR Travis AFB

well i'm going to start my journey in the air force reserve. i was wondering if there are any members on this forum who are in the reserves and stationed at Travis. not new to the military i was active duty army for a while. just wondering what to expect at in processing and how well the unit works with your schedule for you to go to your advanced training (ie heard i could wait up to a year to train). hopefully i hear from someone from this afb as i saw at least two camaro ss and a z28.

yea at sheppard for tech school you wont be staying with the newbie airman in the dorms. Most likely you will be staying at the sheppard inn hotel as if you were TDY. Thats how it was when i was there.

Hey man, you know what side of the house youll be working on (C5, C17, or KC-10)? I was at Travis from 01-05 and would go back in a heartbeat. Depending on which airplane youll be working will depend on where you will go for school.

well, when i was there i worked AR shop (aero repair), so i worked both C5s and KC10s, loved every minute of it. As a matter of fact, i was going to ask how you know they were hiring, do they have a website? I get out in 8 months and would love to be an ART(air reserve technician) out there.

Kc10 flightline guys had it pretty easy, c5 flightline guys hated it, i loved AR though

I went through OTS with a former boom soon to be pilot from the KC-10 Reserve unit out there. I don't know any details but he said he loved it out there. I know they have the highest BAH rate of any CONUS AF base (unless that has changed).
