Default Different LS1 alternators?

I have a 98 ls1 with a 99 harness. The alternator has 4 prongs in the plug hole, but the harness is missing the plug, but there is only 1 wire in the harness there for it.

Am I missing something? Will this work?

that's how it normally is. I just changed the alternator in my '00 and it has 4 prongs in the alt socket, but only 1 wire on the harness.

cool, thanks for the reply

my dad said he was pretty sure it only needed one wire to excite it, but I didn't just want to wire a plug on there and hope its right
