Default What can be done with this cable?

I found a cable to run from my laptop into the OBDII port. What cn ll be done with this? Is there any decent free programs I can run to scan or change anything?

Just wondering.

Just a cable. OBD2 on one end, 25pin connector on the other.

Any marks on the cable to indicate the manufacturer?

With out knowing the hardware it was designed to work with, there's probably not much you can do with the cable with out some form of investment - time and/or money.

do not plug it into your laptop, or you may cook the parallel port. You cannot go from parallel/serial or usb directly to any OBD2 protocol (can, scp, vpw ect..)
