Default Z06 Compression Ratio Question?

What makes the compression ratio change from a 10.1 on an ls1 to a 10.5 on a ls6 (both 2001, camaro vs. z06) did they simply use a smaller head gasket on the z06 or change the cc volume down to a 64cc?? I wanted to get the 215 trick flow genx street/strip heads and have a final compression ratio around 10.9-11.1. Would i have to get the heads milled down some or is there somewhere that would sell a thinner/stronger head gasket?

Lightbulb

The combustion chamber is smaller on the LS6 (243 casting) compared to the LS1 (853-early, 241-late) heads...

The actual cc's come out to be (with stock head gasket) -same head gasket for both.

LS1 = 67cc's
LS6 = 65cc's

Just remember that when you mill the heads, you are not running the same flow on the heads that you originally started with. Yes you have more compression, but the heads will flow a bit less. My advie to you is get some 5.3 liter heads and you should be close to 10.75-10.8 C/R then use a .040 or smaller gasket from thunder racing and that should put you in the range that you want to be at.

Awesome, thats what i thought that an ls1 had 67cc, being the reason for lower compression than the ls6, kinda figured that a manufacturer wouldnt use smaller h/gs so they wouldnt have to make 2 differant h/gs for the ls1 and ls6. I was looking at doing the trick flow h/c package or one of the patriot h/c packages, now possibly a 5.3l head, the stock ls6 lim will fit to the intake runners on the 5.3l heads, right? Im shooting for 470whp-510whp range all n/a. Off the wall, when do the stock 2001 Z06 injectors duty cycle get too high ~85-90% range? I like the titanium exhaust sound and all but will an aftermarket axle back yield a great deal of gain over the stocker? >10whp?
Thanks again!

When you get to around 450 rwhp the Z06 injectors will be around 105% duty cycle.

I would suggest 42's especially if you plan later upgrades. The SVO 30's are good, but if you want to add more later or do a dry shot you will want the 42's.
