well i have a 1300 mile road trip i have to make this week. more or less a vacation. and have a choice of which vehicle to drive. the choices are my 1993 lsx powered 400 rwhp m6 z28 or my bone stock 2004 5 cyl auto colorado. the road trip is going to be from houston, texas all the way to borger ,texas. 650 miles one way. very very beautiful scenery in between. both vehicles being extremely reliable. but the camaro getting better gas mileage. 28 mpg hwy vs the trucks 21mpg hwy. post up your choice.

Well why not get the best of both worlds, better mileage, and photo ops? I voted the Camaro obviously :D

Might wanna get one of those lil lumbar support things for the seat though. They are only like $25. You will thank me later.

This one is inflatable so you can stash it in the glovebox.

This one is even better but a lil pricier

I don't even see why the Colorado is even a factor. Camaro all the way!

as someone who has driven 2300 miles one way 2 times now, i will say take the Camaro. It is fun and you will enjoy it. You may need to stretch the legs out at the gas stations and stretch the back a little, but its all fun times.

X2

I drove my Z28 from Florida to Ohio then to Washington State and back to Florida. Was a fun ride, had to shove a pillow for some support but was all good.

Laughs. Yeah, beautiful scenery.

<- Parents are in Houston, lived in Amarillo for 6 years, made the drive a lot.

The ONLY concern, and I mean ONLY, is which vehicle has better A/C? It's hot as heck right now.

I voted Z28. I'm kind of surprised the truck only gets 21 hwy;my Sierra gets that! However,I had a 02 Sonoma 2.2,m5,3.73 that only got about 24 or 25 hwy with the AC on.

Have a good trip...where's Borger?

Everyone will hate me for saying this but I'd choose the Colorado. In 2004, I drove my '78 Z28 from Biloxi, Mississippi to Charleston, South Carolina and it was the most uncomfortable road trip ever. Just the thought of cleaning off the bugs and potentially scratching/chipping the paint was not fun. It doesn't help that my Camaro is lowered and you can feel every crack in the road too. A couple months ago, I drove my Silverado across country from South Carolina to California. The comfort level was far better. Yeah, I wasn't riding in style but at least I was comfortable.

Camaro. I have made the drive to Amarillo many times in my truck and now that I have made it in the camaro, I don't wanna take the truck any more. That is a good point about the bugs and chips though.

Be sure and go the speed limit through Chillicothe. Also through Estalene if you go that way. The 1 city cop in each town has nothing to do but write tickets. The Estalene cop likes to get you at the city limits and he drives a Mustang so don't let him catch you, lol. Oh and the state troopers may want to talk to you about the lack of a front plate but it should be just a warning.

Scenery? What scenery?

Scenery? What scenery?ive been once in the truck. and the whole time i was driving i was like. i should have brought the camaro. the z28 has cold a/c also. as far as scenery is concerned anything has gotta be better than houston.:barf:

Good point. At least there a not a bunch of trees in the way of the scenery up there.

I would comment that you can smell Borger before you get there but, coming from Houston, you may not notice. lol

If it's commuting purposes, take the truck. If it's for pleasure take the camaro ;)

You'd enjoy your trip so much more in the car.

Shit I you better believe that I would be driving in the Z28. Especially if the Z28 gets better mpg. Than the colorado.

The only thing I dont like about long trips in my camaro is the constant noise. A v6 exhaust isnt as nice to listen to as a v8 i guess...

I bet you feel better knowing everyone's like..."Damn look at that Camaro". Compared to the Colorado that everyone's like....nevermind... no one would ever notice it.

Colby- really brought it for the fact that i couldactually cruise at over 1xx mph while the trucks stops at 98 mph :barf: in the z28 i had the speedo pegged a few times had a lot more in it but after seeing a state trooper on 287 @ memphis i slowed down . so far i have had a blast on this lil trip. but now its time to come home. put the car up. get my truck and go back!:eyes:

Tony-ill call you soon.
