Its bad enough having to be towed home by a Ford but ****..... A Windstar? I would rather dangle from a ceiling fan.

autos may get pissed off if there is power coming from the output side of the tranny. That's what would happen if you towed an auto car in the manner depicted without pulling the driveshaft.

So if you had to get towed without a flatbed, your tranny is toast? Auto cars have neutral too & I have seen lots of RWD auto cars towed with only the front lifted, tranny in neutral & not a single issue.

What makes a f-body any different?

Your still turning some of the internals, heat is still generated and as you would notice the trans cooler isnt functioning while the car is off. It will eat the fluid up and shorten trans life signifigantly.

Ive had my old auto LT1 towed by the rear only.

As like I stated trans life is signifigantly reduced if not blowing the trans all together.

I don't think that F-body differs from other RWD vehicles. FWD cars are lifted from the front with the e-brake off and RWD cars are lifted from the rear. 4-wheel drive cars are towed by flatbed. However you do see people towing cars behind motorhomes with all four wheels on the ground... so I'm not sure if they need to make modifications or what...
