Default Dissapointing track night, videos and pics.

Well i went to the track last friday and was hoping for 12.7s or so but i knew it all depended on my trans.. I only got to run twice and my best was 13.0 at 107.6mph with a 1.90 sixty foot. I had a feeling my trans was on its way out but this night confirmed it. 1-2 shift- chirps em.. 2-3 shift- bounces of the rev limiter 3 or 4 times before shifting (set at 6200rpm).. I know that alone cost me a few tenths but it seemed like the car fell on its face in high cus of the transmission issues.

There was a another black TA there, had a cam that was .60x lift on intake/exhaust ( cant remember exact numbers). We ran and he put up a 12.3 to my 13.0 Heres 2 vids, first one is me and the black TA, second one you can hear me bouncing off the rev limiter.

my trans did that RL bounce thing for like 5k miles with many trips to the track. still managed to go 12.2 with it haha. mine bounced enough to cost me a couple mph and roughly .1 et-wise 1/8 mile. my best before the problems was 7.6 @ 88. after it started hitting the limiter i couldn't trap 87 to save my life. then of course i hit the 1/4 looking for high 11s and go 12.2 @ like 107 haha.

Your transmission may not be 'on its way out'. Try something next time and report back. My car did the same thing yours is doing, and I tried this and had much better luck.

Put the car in '2'. Do your burnout, come to the line, put the shifter in '1'. Launch the car, as you feel it hook, bump up the shifter twice from '1' up to 'D' (this takes a lil practice as you don't want to hit the shifter too late and smack the limiter). Also, you're not trying to manually shift the car right at the shiftpoint, just bump the shifter up to 'D' anytime in 1st after it hooks - if you shift when the tires are spinning the tranny will shift early due to no load on the tires. I know this sounds really odd, but it worked for me with my '99 and thats still how I shift this car.

Sidenote - They let you race in shorts/flipflops there? Nice....our tracks are pretty strict on pants/shoes only

Hmm ill have to try that. The trans still drives perfect and hits really hard for normal driving, but when it comes to going all out.. ehh not so crisp haha. Im just a little mad because back when only had headers/exhaust(no cutout) i went 13.1 @108 with a 1.9 sixty foot. I though that black TA should have been in the 11s though with the cam he had. It was a pretty darn humid night though too. But oh well, ill be going back in september when im finished putting my T56 in.
