What will happen if the coolant temp sensor is bad?
I torqued my coolant temp sensor (sensor in driver side head) too much and the top broke off. Now, I have to get these heads on, so I am just JB-welding it back on. The sensor is fine, and it is sitting right with the rest of the plug (which is in the head), but it won't hold it there itself. Now, by chance if this doesn't work and if the sensor is messed up. What will happen? Will it cause the thermostat not to open? If that is so, can I just take off my thermostat housing, pull the thermostat out and it should work fine, right?

thermostats open based on actual coolant temp, they aren't electronically controlled. If your temp sensor is screwed up, it might cause the pcm to think you have an engine problem and might put you into limp mode (reduced power state) though. Never know!
