Default New Record Holder- Slowest Turbo LS1 in IL

So last trip to the track was pointless with the 4.10 gear in the 10 bolt, and street tires.

Last weekend we installed a midwest fab 9, spool, 3.50 gear yada yada.
Car is on a 275/40/17 et street radial.

Stock motor + ls6 intake mani @ ls6 valve springs, and TSP Pushrods.

Home built gt4276 turbo kit with truck mani's. Last dyno car made 460 whp @ 5,000 rpms, but power fell off due to old valve springs. Car has not been back on dyno but should be somewhere in the 480whp range, and about the same trq.

The best run of the day was a 12.0 @ 116 with a 1.78 60 ft. I was really hoping for an 11, but being a 6 spd car it is so hard to launch, the car kept bogging bad, i am goign to auto with a trans brake this winter which should help alot, and thinking about a 2 step for the rest of the year.

Da was a 2865, and it was high 80's outside. I think on a cooler night, with better da we might be able to get a 11.7 or so out of it...

We also weighed the car. 3370 with no driver. (very few weight mods done)

Chris

What do you guys think? Anything we should try?

Thanks, Chris

Ps.. im gonna try to get video up later.

With the 4.10 gear and wheel spin the car trapped 117 or so, but we got mid to high 12's. Now we dont have any wheel spin, but the car bogs out of the hole, but we got better 60 ft, and et but trap suffored a little.

I kinda though the car would be trapping 119-120 aswell, but these a pretty clean runs, other then a 2 step or t brake, not much i feel i can do.

A cooler night, with a better da should help a couple mph, possibly 118-119. Im debating getting it back on dyno and turning up boost, but it will have to be retuned for the t brake, so im not sure what i want to do.

i should be making pretty much the same power and weight and i leave with no boost and some traction problems 1.80 60'..and went 122-124mph in an auto.. u should do that with that power even with no traction. Car sounds good by the way i saw the last vid

Well i definatly have traction. Suspension is almost perfect. Drivers side comes up a little more then pass, but easily adjusted on the sway Suspension in rear is 100% and the car dead hooks.

My thoughts are it was either way to hot and high da, and hurting my trap, or the turbo is a little large for stock motor/low boost. Its a 76 but, bigger then tc76 and i also have a 1.12 ar, instead of the common .96 ar. Might be hurting me some.

Think i should maybe try to get a .96 ar exhuast housing?

1.12 is too big for a 76 its affecting your spool time.

Its the PTE GT4276 1.12 ar with 4 inch dp. Think the 1.12 ar would still be to big with a iron block 370? Let me know. The people that suggested the 1.12 ar turbo build awsome turbo cars some of the fastest supras in the world, so i value there advice, but if its not workin its not workin.

Chris

Im no turbo expert but i have a .96 on my pt76gts turbo and it spool pretty quick around 3k, most people with a 1.12 housing have them on 88's but i think the 1.12 housing with a 370 i will be ok. I would ask jose @ forced inductions.

Whats the driver supposed to do when the car is not making the power out of boost it needs to get out of the hole?

My buddy runs his more often then me, I have run it only 3 times at the track vs. his 30+. He 60's in the 1.88-2.0 range because of practice. I 60 in the 2.1-2.15 range and still out mph him because of shifting. I keep my foot to the floor during the shifts and the boost does not drop off like a rock. He lets off for the shift, albeit he is still a pretty fast shifter he looses boost.

well that completely dosent answer the question. I can shift anyway I want and the MPH is 1 or 2 different (Shockingly I tried that) I can launch different ways to and only change the 60's a tenth or two (I tried that too) So how is the car bogging because of lack of power and too much traction, driver error?

No boost at launch, and no real way of building any currently. Boost is set to about 6-7psi. Also remember it has a 1.12 A/R housing on it so it takes a little more to spool it up.

It will make boost a lot quicker once you turn the wick up, something to look forward to when you upgrade the bottom end.
