Default big favor on opti needed

Okay so my car isn't sparking at all. Just geussing because it's getting fuel but is in no way making an firing noise like's it's about to start. It all started when my heater hose leaked onto my car's wiring to my optical sensor. So obviously there's probaly corrision on the thing and inside the cap. I'm not an expert with opti's or distributor's at all for that matter. Can someone give me a link to a new cap and optical sensor for a 93 camaro. No i don't want to buy a rotor and do that to, just the cap and optical sensor. How hard is it to put a new one on. I know you gotaa re time them and stuff how hard is it

you will most likely need to purchase an entire new optispark. The opti cap just distributes spark like any distributor cap. The optical sensor is on the base of the opti.

rotor is inside of opti.

rotor and cap:

Here is what you want if you want an entirely new distributor. BUY IT FROM NO ONE ELSE ON EBAY. Thepartsladi sells OEM delphi and Delco optis. Others are deceptive about what they're really selling.

there is No Timing. IT goes on one way. Put it on, and no timing required.

to replace the opti you need to:
take out the fans (2 plugs and then it just sits on brackets, can be pulled from top or bottom)
remove waterpump (3 bolts on passenger side, 2 on driver side, and 1 stud on driver side. to remove stud requires removing the air pump and driver side accessory bracket)
remove the crank pulley (take off the 3 bolts then will need a puller to get it off the hub)
then its just 3 screws holding the opti on

its kinda a PITA but can be done in an afternoon. the opti only goes in in 1 direction because of a little key or nub on the drive, so you cant screw it up. i had a GREAT link on all the steps including the sizes of te bolts and everything on my computer that really walked me through when i did mine, but my computer crashed and i lost it. someone has to have it tho...

Just make sure that you don't remove the hub from the crankshaft. GM designed the damper to be a two piece affair, just so you can change the OPTI more easily. The pulley, however, has an asymmetrical bolt pattern, so you might have to rotate it around the hub until the holes line up....

Your going to have to take the pully all the way off to get the opti out, but leave the hub as everyone else said (the piece that the crank p. is bolted to, with 3 bolts). The opti WILL come out with just the crank pully removed (and not the hub, obviously).

Everybody here swears by the "partsladi", but Jegs could be getting them from the same supplier...you don't know.

Having said that, I'm a rather "thrifty" kind of guy. I replaced the cap and rotor. $160....

if you're going to replace the whole unit, just go with a GMPP unit, you know they work since it's the same one that GM put on the car in the 1st place...I went with an MSD unit and it's pretty much a wast of a good chunk of change for the $530 price tag, only reason I have it is cause Thunder gave it to me for the same price as the GM unit cause they were out of stock on that unit...GMPP Replacement opti, just got with that...remember the old saying...You get what you pay for
