Anyone ever drilled their rims with the tires already mounted?

I have a race & a short time to get this done.

Yes, All I did was add a rubber hose that was just a little shorter then the drill bit. The rubber hose prevents you from drilling to far. I had no problems.

I did, just take your time & go slow ( use a variable speed drill) untill you see rubber, then install some tape on the bit so you know how far to drill for the rest.

just did mine. just go slow and once you get close slow down even more and the bit will catch at the end. Then go just enough to remove the final layer. Doing it this way I had no problems and hardly even nicked the tire with the drill bit.

be sure to add some air to the tires to help hold them against the rim

Already done. I used 20 lbs of air, it went pretty good.

I wonder if I should have them balanced now?
