brad you could add a Springfield armory XD-M it is awesome. I have one on order. I just grabbed a Sig P6 used( they imported a batch that were west german cop guns) they are like new and cost 275, but are sold out at the moment.
As for local ranges, Andover sportsmans club is nice and local, I also belong to Harvard sportsmans club, they have a lot more facilities and do a lot of the action shooting, they even have a subgun range.

I used to live in Nh and I used to go pop off my .22 right in my backyard all day long and never had a problem with anyone.. I kept it to the .22 because I didnt want any of the neighbors complaining, but since moving to mass I've been lost without guns. Honestly I want to shoot trap/skeet again. Anyone know what it takes to own/use a gun legally in this state and how I can get back to shooting again. I live in Norwood.

go to your local PD and pick up an aplication.
find a local range that offers a safty class take it, get your paper work then fill out your aplication accordingly send it in, and its up to your local cheif
i have my class A non restricted licens to carry concealed, or you can get a class a restricted, or a class B which alows you to transport from range etc, or FID. the aplication pretty much explains it all

BillS,
What's the deal with the Springfield armory XD-M in MA. So it's compliant? The 40 cal is like a 16 rd mag right?

I wasn't sure that you could get a Springfield semi-auto here. Thats a sweet gun, do they make a compact yet? (hmm I might have to pass on a Sig229 for it)

Brad the P6 is what Timmy just got. It is a compact low capacity 9mm. He has pics on SSU.

I am curious about the XD as well seeing how no Springfield guns are MA compliant. I know you can still buy them private sale if they are brought legally into the state, but how do you go about ordering one?

I'm looking forward to picking up a Sig 229R

The P6 is also known as the 225, it is a compact single stack 9mm, 8 rnd mag.
it is very much like a 239 but less in the mag, but the price is killer if you can find them. I have a 226 9mm 220 .45 and a 239 in 40. I do prefer the fumsize grips on the 220 and 226, but they are really too big to carry.

As for the XD'd they are on the Mass legislators list, but not the AG's There are a few places that will transfer them as there is no published AG's list so they follow the legislator's. that opens the doors for the glocks and XD's, but not the HK's and kimbers as they told Mass to go pound sand in reguards to their stupid rules.

I have been to danvers F&G and dont like it. They have way too many rules and you have to have a range officer persent to shoot. Andover is only 10 min further up rt114 and no RO is required and fewer rules( but still too many).
Harvard is still the tops , but is a haul

hmmm interesting. The only time i every really heard of shops "opening the doors" for those guns were for LEO's. That doesn't mean they are out there for the civilians either.

I'm pretty sure you can't get it in MA.

"if it was not registered in ma before the 1998 gun control act and 940cmr, or on the approved list, it can not be legally transferred."

Approved list 2008

If your dealer is getting em' for you will you see if he will sell more to a class A license holder?

I belong to the Woburn club its pretty fun although there must be a range officer present when shooting. Also the club only allows one guest at a time I used to go up to Bob's and bring a few of my buddies but I went up there a few weeks ago and saw on the door that it was closed till further notice. Also Sigs are very nice guns I have shot my buddy's 226, but I think I am going to go on a spree and get one of the new Ruger.45 ACPs.
