Default Milan Dragradial video lots of great wheelies and 7.38@196 run

Qualifying from the Milan Heads Up race 8-1. Lots of LS1Tech members racing Steve Turley,Mike Brown, Tom Kempf, Mark Koehler and Jim Filipowski. Tom Kempf runs 7.66 vs Dave Hinzman for #1 ( 5:00min in the vid). Later (8:30min in vid) Hinzman runs 7.380@ 196. Lots of great wheelies throughout the vid. Steve Turley also made it to the final against Hinzman.

The run by Hinzman was cool, very smooth. Turley had a problem in the final, but the 7.66 by Hinzman would have been tough!!

When he ran it out the back he went 7.38@196, thats not allowed on a 25.5 cert (7.50 and slower).

I could be wrong but I believe it's a weight issue with the 25.2? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

They are gonna have to drop the weight for the class or make it an 1/8th mile race I think.

It is. It's 25.2 at 3200 max and 25.5 @ 3600 pounds. So long as Drag Radial classes demand a 3400 pound weight on turbo cars as well as big block blower cars it has to be a 25.5 setup. Milan may allow one sub 7.50 run, after that you get your warning and technically it's considered a DQ which is why Tom qualified number 1.

Apparently there is a new spec in the works. That doesn't help anyone though because it's likely many months before we can use it. They really need to figure out if they want to have a radial class running close to outlaw 10.5 speeds. We run the same basic setup as a outlaw car, just a different tire and slightly different suspension.

A lot to be said about the 1/8th mile being a reaction time race to the 330. If you want to only win on that, have at it. Otherwise the turbo cars are now capable of running pretty serious numbers to the 1/8th mile to outgun most of those that can't run the 1/4 mile anyway. So those that can't compete today in the 1/4 will still be bitching if the format is changed anyway. The only thing good about the 1/8th mile is you get capped somewhere close to a 4.50 ET on a 25.5 spec. That's a lot faster than what anyone is currently running, so there's some room to improve there.

Thanks for sharing. I get some strange looks at the dealership setting behind my 55 desk with the speakers cranked up watching drag racing.

Fxxx Txxx it's worth it!
