Default Engine Tick

I have a 93 Z28 with 107K miles on it, it recently developed a tick. I took it to a mechanic and he said its probably the lifters. I wanted to get an opinion from people here. Also, if it is the lifters how dificult are they to change on my own? Thanks!!

I though my lifters were ticking till I noticed I barely have an exhaust manifold gasket on the driver's side and one of the bolts holding it on broke off

I was going to say the same thing. Check for an exhaust leak first. Try using a stethoscope to rule out the lifters & rockers.

I get a small tick before it warms up, I think it's the exhaust manifold. It goes away when it warms up so I'm guessing that's when everything expands and seals. Maybe I'm wrong but I hope not.

Mine used to go away when it warmed up. Now its just a tad it quieter. Mostly noticable at idle up to 2K.
