Default Car got traded in question on rear

Hey all, 2000 white SS just got traded into the dealership I work at. Now the rear is black, not rusted or anything. I can't tell what kind it is. Does not seem like it is a 10 bolt. What are some ways for me to tell, or does anyone have pictures I can compare it to. Also, how can I find out more about the gears within.

Counting the bolts on the cover will tell you 10 bolt or 12 bolt. 9 inch rears don't have a cover, instead they have a center section so that would be easy to differentiate. To check what gears are in it, http://www.idavette.net/tech/ratioc.htm. To tell axle splines or posi type you will have to pull it apart. Hope this helps.

Edit: The gear calculator is assuming you are in your 1:1 gear in the transmission.
