Default MARYLAND emissions test

Does anyone from maryland know if they use mirrors to check under your car while at the emissions test? I've had emissions test done numerous times on different cars and have never seen them used but my brother and one of my friends swear they use them. I'm just wondering if I'll have to switch to a catted Y pipe for my test if they are gonna use mirrors.

they do have mirrors at the testing facility in Bel Air and I have seen them use them. Most of the later cars with obc they just plug in and let you go

Hmm i usually go to the columbia station cause i work down that way. Show up and get in line 10 minutes before they close and they push you through pretty quick.

I go to the Baltimore station, and they haven't used the mirrors. Just plugged in the OBD2 scanner to read for codes, and I was good to go. Mods in sig.

I just went to westminster with my form and the waver I got from 2 years ago in my work truck. They told me they have to see the car. I am a little woried I have no cats and the car smells kind of bad. Last time they told me the exhaust was too low so I got the waiver. Should I take the car up there again and hope for the waiver and save my $14?

On the back of the form you can request a waiver or extension the first line is:

Vehicle is soley powered by: Diesil Electric Hybrid with 50mpg city EPA rating

Why cant my car be Diesel for a short period of time? Then I can put the LS1 back in in a few months or at least if I get questioned? Or maybe it can be electric?

What happens if you fail or get cought without Cats?

i go to the one in harford county and most of the guys are so lazy they hate to bend over to even plug the OBDII in. Never had them check. I have SLP loudmouth with no cats let me tell you the car is loud even at idle and the guys dont look. good luck though

Do your cars smell bad like mine and still pass? I am probably going today and hoping to get that waiver again. Yea I forgot I took off my air and EGR I got headers too wonder if that makes any difference with emissions. Why is everything against the law. Free country my ***!

Columbia does not use mirrors...they are also VERY lenient...I passed with LTs, ORY, only 2 O2s (plugged in to the Header Collectors), Hooker Aerochamber Exhaust, and my 3" Cutout open...good luck

Took my car a couple weeks ago to the one in Waldorf. Has LTs, Magnaflow metallic cats that look nothing like stock, gmmg, and a cam. Two guys looked under the car with mirrors (first time ever) and waved me through. Passed the computer test and went on my way. I've known plenty of guys that have passed way worse with no problems.

Well I'm gonna try my luck tomorrow. But i would really like to know the penalty for getting caught without cats. Isn't it a possible $5000 fine or something? I just dont see how anyone can ignore the pungent, eye-stinging odor that surrounds my car when its on.

I go to the Ordinance rd. testing station in Glen Burnie. Passed there twice in a row with headers, no cats, no air. ONly thing that I will do is close up the Borla, makes it quieter so as not to raise any eyebrows. One guy on EFA brought his on a trailor and unloaded it right in front of the station. Said everyone was watching him. Had slicks/skinnies, roll cage, long tubes, huge cam, open cut out. Passed him no problem. Lol
