So instead of washing off the dirt and contaminants you are rubbing them in the paint. You really should clean the paint before doing that, if you want it to last.

Chances are you are swirling the paint. Most road dirt is abrasive and QD's aren't a substitute for soap and water.

Washing your car using a good, quality car wash soap, a high quality lambs wool mitt and the two bucket method is the safest and best way to clean your car.

the way you are currently doing it is a poor choice.

^ They just told you... To start, Soap & Water!

QD is okay a FEW times in between waxes for VERY minor dust and stuff.

You don't want to apply a wax unless you're sure your clearcoat is CLEAN...

Pretty much, don't ever apply wax after only an application of qd.

You are using the right products but the car MUST be clean first. You will really scratch the finish otherwise. The detailer really is for very light dust and for in-between waxes to keep the car really shining and enhance the wax that you previously applied.

As other have said... you should be using SOAP and WATER!!!!!!!!

As for the detailing spray.... I don't even see much or any need for that stuff.... just encourages someone to not clean(wash) their car the right way.

my car doesn't get driven much...so I use the california duster and then the quick detailer just to get the fine dust off, but I would never use it as a substitute for washing!

Some of you guys seem to dismiss the gloss enhancing effects of a high quality QD... It's wonderful.

You're just not supposed to wax a car after that... It doesn't leave a car CLEAN like a wash will right before a wax... Hell, even after a wash some microsized dirt and dust in the air, unless you're in a sealed vacuum, will get back on after a wash... I always wipe down each area I'm going to wax immediately before waxing, and then I wax that area ASAP. It's the best chance you have... But I don't think QD is going to leave a car's paint clean like a good wash will.

yea dude just start with some soap and water. go to the store and pick up some auto soap. Or go to a DIY wash bay, something with soap and water, then the possibilities of wax and quickies are limitless with the millions of products out there today. You are doing more harm than good by not washing it with S&W.
