Default ATI Superdamper gap between pieces

I just received my ATI Super Damper (917264) and the instructions aren't all that great in it. Anyway trying to put it together I got the hub into the accessory shell ok and that sits flush.

The A/C pulley center section sticks out .54" from the pulley and looks like this part is supposed to sit into the space between the hub and the accessory pulley.

When I try and put then together though there is a .12" gap between the two pulleys, is this normal? I have attached a couple images to illustrate the issue.

Thanks for your help.

Just as a note, in case anyone else ever has the same question. I spoke with ATI this morning and they did confirm there is supposed t be a gap there. I had just wanted to be sure before I tried mounting this thing up.

On my C5 8-rib setup, there was a gap between the two. Of course that was only a test fit to see how the two went together. I ended up ditching the whole AC system.
