Myth or Fact. on 60ft.
So alot claim they are getting 1.8/1.7 60ft. times with there bolt-on M6 LT1s, geared with DRs, & they say i should do the same, HOW without the engine bogging down when you leave at 5000+ & dump the clutch/mash the peddle lol, because it ain't happening in my cause, all i mustard was a 1.99 best, normally it was 2.00 range (its staying consistant), i actually went a tad faster on the 60ft. leaving at 4000 & not dumping the clutch, how do i get pasted the dreaded Bogg? I will say its NOT traction, this car is dead hooking. So what do i need to do?
Could it be the DA & alt. affecting it that much, are you guys doing this in the summer or in the fall @ sea level? I'm at 1500ft. & DA that night was around 23-2500ft.

Know alot of guys here dump the clutch and hold it about half throttle through the 60'..Dump and stab usually ends up in alot if wheel spin...Just play around with it a little bit and you will eventually find what works best for you...Practice makes perfect.......then agian, mine's an Auto, all I gotta do is Stab N' Steer so to speak

I know people that dump at 6000 and cut 1.4 60ft's on stock suspension. I guess it depends on your Tires too.. they are running MT Slicks at about 12 psi.
I wonder if the reason some Standards bog on a dead hook is cause its suck a shock to the engine to have that much demand for power and it can't respond to it that quick cause the complete drivetrain is locked up when it gets the load applied..that is if you have a good clutch. The reason I say that is because with the Auto the Stall is going to slip internally then it's going to hit. You don't have that with the Standard.
There is a guy here in a pro-charged 402 LS2 Vette that dumps at like 5k and bogs every time. I have yet to see him launch without a bog. I wonder if it's a tuning issue as well..

I'm going to have to try leaving hard & then 1/2 throttle it on the role out.
The Merv. Yes i think it has ALOT to do with lack of power when trying to dunp the clutch like that, i'm at 270-280ish rwhp at best, the engine just can't respond fast enough to propel the weight its trying to move, 380-400rwhp would be a whole nother story, i'm sure the Alt. is effecting it too, thats why i don't believe its ever going to 60ft. in the say mid. 1.8s, even in good air, it does have a Ram clutch, once i leave & stab it, its like baaaaaaa & then its off, but its gradual, by that time, the 60ft. is over, god i wish i had an A4 now, hell i'de be in the 12s. These Hoosiers i'm running are every bit as good as a MT, i've run both & i can vauch for that, these Hoosiers freakin hook & hook hard.

is the car tuned? sounds like its not up to its power potential if its dead hooking from 5K. you will 60 better with a stick if you bring it out hard enough to get just one revolution of tire spin to keep it from bogging. you didnt put a lightweight flywheel in did you? that will kill your launch and shifts. a heavy flywheel will help keep the rpms up......

i would put a tune at the top of my list with a lt1. and not a mail order tune, tho many will swear by them on here. lt1's are picky with what they like and dont like. every one you tune seems to like something differant. find a good lt1 tuner close enough to drive it too. where are you located.

best I have managed is a 1.90 60' with a stock stall and radials...with an A4 though..Your 6 speed should 60' way better especially with drag radials. The only standard that I have ever raced at the track was my 89 mustang. And it would 60' a 1.60 everytime with ET streets then fall flat on its face at the end of 1st gear...turned out to be a fuel problem...I know you guys hate mustangs and all but thats just the experiance I have had.

Here is a nice tutorial. This guy is very well known for his extremely quick ZO6's. This one has/was first stock C6 ZO6 w/DR's that ran 10's.

I talked with Shon Herron & he & a few others said the trick is raising tire pressure & get it to spin some untill you find that sweet spot where the car 60fts. the best, just like a stall on an auto, something has to slip to get it into its power range as quick as possible, makes perfect sence to me, i'll most likely go back this friday & try that, i do know when the street tires spun when i tested the 4.11s, is was a whole different feeling, the car took off alot quicker even though it was spinning, but that was on the street dumping the clutch, @ the track, the street tires weren't cutting it.
