The engine, turbo, and A2W IC are here.
Thanks to Erik at HKE for the 396, Josh at KYTP for the S91 turbo, Cary and Craig at ETP for the heads, and Robert at Chiseled Performance for the IC.
Thanks to Chuck and Aaron in advance for all the work we will need to do to get this done.
Thanks to Nick and Dan for all their help setting the engine in.
Stay tuned as we start to get this up and running. We have a lot of work to fab the turbo setup and hope to have it somewhat done when the car goes to Memphis. (unfortunately it will be display only)

Thanks to Nick and Dan for all their help setting the engine in.
Thanks for the beers. I think we spent more time drinking and BSing than we did placing the motor in it's new home. :chug:

Looks like you went with some really good hard parts and builders. It ought to fly.
Keep us updated!!

Is that a 4.125 crank LS1 setup? If so with the lack of compression height do you think it's going to hold up to large amounts of boost?

It's a 3.90 stroke Callies Magnum XL crank with a 4.030 bore. We added material to the piston dome to allow for boost.

Good stuff Steve. I think my next project (or next step in the evolution) is gonna be your original plans with a blower :)
Gonna be a big investment that will take a while, but that's o.k, end result will be worth it :)

The blower just got too expensive once I started to look at drive systems. Turbo ended up being way cheaper if that can even be said.

I hear ya. I still haven't decided what I wanna do yet, I'm either thinking one of those gear drive systems like Brady has on his car (if they make one that can work with an ls series engine) but then I have to basicially cut the radiator support out completely and have a radiator made that sits offset, which is fone if I can offset the blower (use the foglight hole as the inlet for the blower)
Or, do it like that kid refrutec is doing (look in the FI section) by mounting the blower on a big alum plate, like a 2nd motor plate. I will do it slightly different because I will do an a2w and put it on the floor in the passenger's side, face an elbow backwards towards the firewall and go thru the car like that, run the other pipe thru the hvac delete plate.
Still alot of ideas, I am wondering if I can take my motor, just put some 9 to 1 dish pistons in it and change the intake/camshaft, I don't see why I can't, probably be the easiest/most cost effective route.
I'm thinking (note, just thinking) the biggest f1 size procharger for a head unit. I can't imagine that won't be enough to get the car real close to the limit of what the motor will take and what the chassis cert is good for.
Plus I think the tuning is easier with a blower car, the boost is pretty much linear. By playing with the timing I should be able to pull power at the start of the run, then ramp it back in and then take a little away for the last couple hundred feet to help the thing live a little longer.
Again, just thinking. I figure 20 grand to do it. One thing is for sure, no more forgetting to turn the bottle on in the lanes again, wait until that episode of pinks allout air's, I'll be banging my head on the wall every time it's on

We had planned to use a second plate to mount the blower. The pullies is what kiis you. Expect to spend north of 1K a set.

That's what I'm afraid of. The gear drive, is sounding better and better
Really though, I should be able to buy one crank pulley and maybe a 2 or 3 blower pulley's and be o.k. One big one to get started with, one 3 or 4 teeth smaller to get the car going and maybe one a few less for the gusto runs.

I'm thinking with a 402 ci motor, 15 lbs should be more then enough to get the car to 9.3 which should be enough to be competitive in a 9.5 index class.
But it's all just thoughts at this point.
