Default Got me a LS1 Alum DS...... Questions?

Ok I picked up a really nice LS1 Alum. DS for my 96 formula. Install will be a breeze but my question is Does it need to be rebalanced after its in the car? Or does it just drop in since its already been balanced in the LS1???? Any helpful hints would be great!!! Its going in after work today. I need to get rid of that nasty 80+mph vibration and maybe pick up a tiny bit at the track.
Thanks

I am fairly sure they are already balanced and ready to go, considering it came out of pretty much the same car.

If I didnt have to wear nice clothes to work, I would be in the parking lot of with the car on jackstands putting it in right now. I need to take the HWY to get home...Perfect place to test it out.

Thats right, get it way up there (dont get any tickets though ).

I havent done one to the LT yet, but the LS was a hell of alot smoother 90+.

Im just ****...I had new u-joints and rebalanced before I put mine in. It was shipped so thats how I justified it in my own mind (the balance). The ujoints...I cant explain why. Its a great mod.

I know. I have had both and the LS was way smoother.
I hope this really helps. Its almost like a switch at 80mph silky smooth then vibrates like crazy. If it doesnt end up being the DS. Does anyone have any suggestion? Its got a TM adj TA on it but this problem existed b4 I put it on.

For 75bucks I figured I couldnt go wrong. This one is in great shape and came off a 00 SS the same day I picked it up. All u-joints seem 2 be in great shape and the weights are still on it.

Grab some new u joints while your in there, itd be a shame to break one RIGHT after you put it in

And you could always get it rebalanced, but thats up to you....I know they are balanced for an F-body so your F-body or his, doesnt matter. But there is always that chance it lost some weights or something.

Im pretty **** about making everything perfect, but its something thats so easy to install id just throw it in and run it on the highway. If it vibrates then balance.....If not then forget it!

Thats what Im going to do. I just wish I wasnt stuck here at work thinking about it rather than doing it! LOL! Then back to the track on fri to see how it runs and work on how this car likes to launch. Def not the same as my old LT1 M6 with 3.73s.

Make sure you post up your results if you go, I was thinking of hitting NED tomorrow to get some actual times out of my heap. This all depends on if the weather holds, been shitty here lately.

Sweet! It will be installed about 2 minutes after I get home. Track times will follow this fri. I went last week and it turned 101.xx. Ill find the slips and compare trap speeds since last week I didnt have the launch on this car figured yet resulting in terrible 60s

Put a good bit on them.. that is one thing that you don't want coming out.

Just get them tight with a short wrench as to not over tighten them and squish the bearing.

^^You have to do some **** to squish that Cap bro.. that little steel strap isn't going to do it. You will bend the strap first.

If you want to get them in there good and tight, straighten out the straps a little, then put them in.

True that. Just torque em' down good, its not something that has to be exact. Just make sure they wont come out, thats all.

Ok its on!!! The only thing I can see that might be bad, is the weight on the DS just barely hits/rubs the UMI tunnel mount TA DS loop when the rear suspension is fully suspended. Seem ok with the suspension loaded. Time for a test drive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
