I did a basic head swap on my 00 C5 and when I started the car the oil pressure guage was at 0. So I made sure I had oil pressure then checked the codes and P0522 came up. So I did some research and saw other people who fixed it with changing the oil pressure sensor behind the intake and I did the same. But the guage still doesn't work and the code is still popping up. So what is the next fix?

Also, I did find a pinched wire in one of the grounds on the back of the head, so I put a new ring connector and put it back. Are any of the grounds behind the drivers side head for the oil pressure sensor?

how long did it run and register at zero?

Did it actually START, or where you cranking ot over in attempt to start iT?

The car fired right up. I have ran the car for about 5 minutes so far. It actually was "Started" and running.

Circuit Description
The EOP sensor measures changes in engine oil pressure. The EOP sensor has a 5 volt reference, a ground and a signal circuit.

The Engine Oil Pressure sensor changes resistance based on changes in engine oil pressure. When the PCM senses a signal voltage lower than the normal operating range of the sensor, this DTC sets.





With the vehicle on a level surface, run the vehicle for a few minutes, allow adequate drain down time (2-3 minutes) and measure for a low oil level.
If required, add the recommended grade engine oil and fill the crankcase until the oil level measures full on the oil level indicator.
Run the engine briefly (10-15) seconds and verify low or no oil pressure on the vehicle gauge or light.
Listen for a noisy valve train or a knocking noise.
Inspect for the following:
• Oil diluted by water or glycol (anti-freeze)

• Foamy oil

Remove the oil filter and install the J 42907 .
Install J 21867 or equivalent to the J 42907 .
Run the engine and measure the engine oil pressure.
Compare the readings to Engine Mechanical Specifications .
If the engine oil pressure is below specifications, inspect the engine for one or more of the following:
• Oil pump worn or dirty

• Oil pump-to-engine block bolts loose

• Oil pump screen loose, plugged, or damaged

• Oil pump screen O-ring seal missing or damaged

• Malfunctioning oil pump pressure regulator valve

• Excessive bearing clearance

• Cracked, porous, or restricted oil galleries

• Oil gallery plugs missing or incorrectly installed


• Broken valve lifters

• Repair as necessary

If the oil pressure reading on the J 21867 or equivalent is within specifications, inspect for the following:
• Plugged or incorrect oil filter and/or malfunctioning oil bypass valve

• Malfunctioning oil pressure gauge or sensor

• Repair as necessary
