moore tool any1 use the moore toole for the valve springs? i lost 3 spring keepers already in the engine compartment and am havin a hard time to get them to lock. stupid things keep popin out 
any tricks to this. its very fusterating

Re: moore tool Maybe your not compressing the spring enough and pushing the keeper in deep enough.
When I put mine in I place 1 keeper in making sure it's down all the way and relax the spring a bit (dont take all the pressure off) to center the keeper up, then recompress and put in the other keeper. It takes some practice, just keep the keepers on a magnet while your going. It makes them easy to grab when you need one. Good Luck!

Re: moore tool make certain that your rocker is not hitting the spring or retainer when the valves are closed. This will rock the keeper and they will pop out. check the underside of the rockers for signs of contact. If so you must shim the rocker pedestal and use a longer pushrod to get the geometery correct.

Re: moore tool I put a dab of grease on the inside of the keeper. Kind of makes them stick to the valve stem. He is right about releasing a little to center and then recompress. I did mine with the heads off so it was allot easier but same principal.

Re: moore tool The dab of grease helps greatly. Use a 2ft extension from a floor jack on the end of the rachet. This will make compressing the spring easier allowing more attention to the keepers.
Blow some compressed air in the engine compartment if you can't find the keepers. I lost two and after some air, they showed up on the ground.

Re: moore tool 1) the geometry, or angle, that the moore tools fulcrum is at is jacked. It tends to push the spring and retianer to one side thus making it hard for the user to get the keepers in.
2) the rails are too tall on the sides, again a problem for the keepers
3) I found that most of dropped keepers would hang up around the hea shield on the drvrs side and the small area under the heater lines on pass fender wall.
