Default What size headers for this setup. I keep heaaring mixed things.

It is a D1SC procharged 370 with for now stock 317 castings. I will go to an aftermarket head this winter. Has a good size blower cam from EPP. I dont mind giving up some low end as I have a stall over 3k and I will have plenty of pwoer down low as it is. I am looking for reduced 1/4 mile ET's more then low end torque. Its not a truck, I have one of those! lol Now I have considered straight 1 7/8's, but then started hearing good things about stepped headers. When I looked into it most were saying the 1 7/8 stepped to 2" was only good for 400+ cube builds. Now I am building my motor to max out the D1SC and put down over 700 to the tires, and quite possibly drop a 100-150 shot of spray on top of this with race fuel at the track. I need a header that will be able to keep up with this and I am thinking the 1 7/8 stepped to 2" would be needed to keep up with this kind of flow. Then I read a reputable member on here say he was going with 1 3/4 stepped to 1 7/8 on a 42x cube motor he was building and he referenced an article explaining why it would be better. Now I am even more confused!

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

I think I am just gonna go buy some kooks straight 1 7/8 headers tomm as I found a place with them in stock near me. I dont think the 1 3/4 will keep up, and everyone keeps saying the stepped to 2" should only be used on 400+ cube motors so I guess these are my best bet.

I would just stick with a 1 7/8 primary.

Call Bob @ EPP and see what he recommends....he is pretty good with that stuff. They've done plenty of Procharger setups on different cube motors and could tell you what would be more beneficial to you.

since you plan on juicing later on, i think you should get the 1 7/8 stepped to 2. just my .2 cents.
