Default High RPM 'hitch'

1997 WS6, basically stock except a catback and cutout and a K&N, if I actually get into it(rarely) it kinda hitches up top. Feels almost like a miss but doesn't seem as harsh as a miss. I have some Taylor wires and NGK plugs I need to install since I think the wires on the car are still factory, any chance this might help the problem or does everyone think what I think the problem is. The old optispark?

I've never heard that but I'll do some research. Had Taylors before and they were great, and know more than a few 4 digit HP cars on taylors. Thundervolts of course, not the little guys I got
