2 Kills on this beautiful San Diego sunday!.

C5 Vette
09 Dodge SRT8 Challenger <-- HA!

I could really care less about the vette, its old news. He instigated it, I ended it. As were smiling at each other chuckling about the run, a challenger shoots by in the fast lane (freeway)

Im immediately on his tail, and we drop to 40 at which point the V had ruined his confidence by the time I hit 4th.

Congrats on the kills. I see from your sig you have exhaust and an Air filter. Do you think it would have been close without those? What year CTS-V?

The catback exhaust and air filter are negligable when it comes to power gains.

So let me get this str8... you let a car breathe more, and you don't rep the HP benefits. Not even 3-5 HPs for the exhaust? No gains in low-end torque? Have y

You'll probably gain 3-5 but like 510 said, 3-5 hp for 700+ for exhaust isn't really anything worth mentioning.

Ok, I'll give you 3-5 hp for those mods, maybe even 10. 0.75%, 1.25%, 2.5% power increases.

Do you think you could tell when you're behind the wheel?

ok so if those are all true. then if i just take out the resenator and put a cut out before muffler i should pick up same horse right?

i want to modd a little. but don't want to spend 700 for 3-5 horse. thats a waste of money. i would spend 700 for spray:lol:

I consider my car stock. I just list mods because theyre technically power adders. I dont consider anything that doesnt require removal of head components a real motor mod ;)

You can hack up the stock exhaust without spending a lot of money and still create a great system. I only got my magnaflow because I got it for $400.

If you're looking to get power for cheap, go get tuned by a shop that will give you free or limited cost tune upgrades for your future mods.

Spray will always be a bang-for-your buck winner.

Nice work! I just realized I'm posting in your thread and forgot to comment.

That poor Challenger owner will never feel the same.

Great kills.

Do you think you could tell when you're behind the wheel?

So you are putting down almost 370 at the rear wheels right? From your mods listed you have full exhaust work, CAI, and LT's. So have you gained most of your real wheel hp from your tune, or from the exhaust and tune. Either way you still picked up a difference; and you are saying that you can not tell a 30rwhp difference? Just trying to understand?

what do these cars put down the the ground stock on a dyno.

what do these cars put down the the ground stock on a dyno.

Assuming 15-17% loss for a manual transmission, 336-344 horses.

I can definitley feel the difference from the ~35 rwhp increase after installing the headers and getting tuned. I was saying with just a catback and filter you won't feel much and if you do, it's mostly in your head.

I actually pulled 321rwhp, 315rwtq right after the header install and before the tune. I was probably down 10-15 hp for the engine running rich so maybe 333 rwhp stock. The tune then took it from 321-369 rwhp.

what do these cars put down the the ground stock on a dyno.

The guys on HorsepowerTV pulled 327rwhp from their stock CTS-V that they then installed a maggie on. I've even seen people get lower than that stock, and I've seen some a bit higher.

Assuming 15-17% loss for a manual transmission, 336-344 horses.

That's on the high side for our cars, as the driveline is full of rubber that seems to rob a few extra horses. 16-19% loss is a more likely range.

he got the bulk of that power increase from the headers/tune...not the catback or his k&n. you will feel a 30+rwhp increase...he NEVER said that you can't feel that.

i'm not sure why you're having a hard time understanding the simple fact that a catback exhaust and cai are NOT going to net you big enough power to truly notice. you may feel a little better throttle response or think you're faster because you're louder, but the 4 or 5 hp you pick up will not be felt or make a difference in a race.

so in answer to your very first question...even without the filter/catback, the 2 runs this guy had would be equally as close as they were with them.

i obviously have a wendsday after 3 coffee's & lunch car. =]
