Very low idle at start up when sitting overnight.

Very low idle at start up when sitting overnight. My girlfriends 01 a4 trans am has developed a problem with in the last week.
When you go to start it the next day it fires right up no problem, but the idle is very low and stays low. You can shut the car off and start it right back up and everything is perfect again. From what she remembers its only after it sits for hours at a time. She said it fires right up everytime, but the idle is way down. She stuck it in gear and back to park and still stays low and never changes.
If anyone knows whats going on i'de realy appreciate it. Not so much to get the car fixed, but so she will stop bugging me about it. thanks!
