Default Whinning Sound in speakers....

Since i bought my '02 SS last year i always had a whinning sound
in the speakers with or without the headunit turned on.
First i was thinking i had a bad ground somewhere. But i'm beginning
to think it's the Monsoon amp. Does anyone know what GM charges?
Or where i can get a used working one?
Thanks,
Den

No one hasn't seen this problem? The whinning sound goes up in pitch
as rpm's rise. Somebody must have a good idea...hopefully..lol.

I've had this problem before on an aftermarket system, I checked all grounds, turned out to be my amp was dying. It died a week later, changed out the amp and no more noise. Well that was my experience.

Check your grounds.

Does it get louder or sound higher pitched when you press the gas pedal down? if it does you have interference somewhere in your grounds. Your going to need to try new ground spots. I believe the sell a box you can run your wires into that clean up the signals.

Yep the pitch goes up with rpm...sometimes it's louder than others. Especially
when the inside temps are high...it's been in the 90's all summer and it gets louder
on hotter days. But it always makes the noise. Now when i removed the amp a few days
ago i pulled the plug and reseatted it and the noise was almost gone. Then the next day
it was back. I wouldn't know where to start looking for bad ground wires. At the amp there's only the one fat cable. But i'll pull the head unit out and check behind it. More than likely there's probably a capacitor that filters noise is either bad or going bad.
Thanks everyone for your input.

I think what i'll try first is unplug the amp then use a speaker to check if the
noise is coming from the HU or the amp. I have a diagram that shows what
each pin does on the connector for both the camaros and the firebirds.

I had a bad whine when I ran my signal wires right next to my power wires, but that was with a separate amp for a sub. That doesn't sound like your problem here.

If you need a stock Monsoon amp, I actually kept mine, so just let me know and we can work something out.

in the car ask what that sound is..lol. No biggy i'll figure something out...i'm done

99% of the time its bad grounds like everyone suggested

if you have a aftermarket head unit its usually the preamp wires coming to close to +12v wires causing them to pick up noise
