Default 97 4.3L --> 02 4.3L in Blazer

This isn't a LS1 conversion but I thought I would ask anyways.

I am in the middle of helping a friend drag his 97 Blazer through 5 years of innovation and improvments. The stock drivetrain is fried.

Here is what we are doing.

Stock like stuff to swap:
97 4.3L to 02 4.3L; the donor motor has ~60K on it
Old style PCM to new PCM (97 to 07 style like in LS1)
New engine harness
Old 97 NVG3500 to 04 NVG3500 from 4.8L
Replace the rag joint and other general replaceables
New timing set, plugs, wires, ect, new water pump, new seals,

Upgrades:
He ordered headers, Comp cams 260 duration camshaft

I wanted to know if any of you guys knew if there would be any problems with going from the new stuff to the old body harness. His truck is power nothing and not 4WD.

Also does anyone know if this camshaft requires any special attention? Just trying to help an old friend out.

PS

Yes, I did try to get him to go for a 4.8L or 5.3L Chevy truck motor but he didn't want to go for it.
