Default 66 Chevelle Conversion with Factory Air

I have a 66 Chevelle with Factory Air (R 12) that blows Ice Cubes....I have a 2006 GTO LS2 Engine / Trans (Auto) combination that I want to put in......Will the GTO AC Compressor work with the R 12/Factory set-up......I really want to keep the Factory set-up as it works so well....Is there a Sanden type compressor that will fit that will work.......I switched it over to Freeze 12 years ago and changed it back to R-12 as soon as I found some as it just didn't work with the factory set-up...Anyone have any Experience with problem..............

Thanks in Advance
Ken

According to bczee he is running R406A Refrigerant replacement for R 12 in his stock 71 chevelle hvac with ls1 compressor and it is working well. I then assume if you can get r-12 it should work even better. I am about to do the same in my 65 cutlass with factory system and 2002 ls1 compressor. If I can find the R406A that is.

we are running a original dealer 60's add on kit with our sanden compressor and r134 and it works perfect, I did not even change the original expansion valve...
