How do you adjust Koni rears

How do you adjust Koni rears i've read the other posts and know that they adjust from the top but when i go to adjust with some pliers it keeps spinning both ways. Am i supposed to hold the nut below it while i adjust?

If the shock shaft is turning when you are adjusting the shocks I'm thinking you should tighten up the nut holding the shock on more. All you should need to do is use some pliers and turn the small flat piece that sticks out from the shock shaft. That is all the **** does that koni supplies
