Racer's Lounge - how much would a ls1 swap raise the price of a firebird?

if i put a ls1 in my 98 firebird 3.8... how much would it raise the price? i think the blue book is around 4800 for it being a 98 v6. so how much higher than 4800 would it be? it would be a 6-speed transmission also.

Who knows, but who cares. You do an LS1 swap for yourself, not for resale. It would be like buying your girlfriend breast implants then dumping her...why do it if you aren't going to get to enjoy it?

No big gain in price. The Formulas and Trans Ams aren't going for much right now either.

It probably won't increase the value. Your title will still read v6. If you are doing it for yourself, thats one thing, but if you're going to sell it, then its not worth it IMO.

Yea, it would drop the price further down than it is now.
I bought a roller Z28 and put it all back to stock. No one notices shit, I got comments on it being clean for the mileage 90k, and everything is great until I tell them the engine has less miles because the original one blew up by a previous owner, etc....all of a sudden people become retards and start asking the most outrageous questions. And then comes the lowballing. :buttkick:

it would lower the value imo. I sure wouldn't want to buy a car from someone if they had done a motor swap.

As someone has already mentioned, it would probably lower the resale on it. In all honesty, if you wanted an LS1 Firebird, you should buy one instead of converting your V6. It would save you a small fortune.

yup definetly lower the price... the VIN will come up as a V6 ... if I wanted to buy a 10 year old F-Body I'd want one that was a factory V8 not one someone did lot sof changes to to put different drivetrain in.

I bought my car as an LS1 swap. Except it was previously an LS1 and was done professionally. The guy started asking pretty low for what Camaro's were going, and this one had a super clean interior. So you'd probably lose value.

i dont think i can afford a trans am. unless i find a early model 93-07 then put a 98 front end on it. (i hate the old front ends). but as far as i know a 98 trans am is like 10,000. i can spend probably 2000 for a engine with transmission.

sell some of your cars and buy a factory equipped LS1 car instead of creating some god awful bastard of a car it seems you are trying to create.

x2 Sell them all and you'll have enough for a car with some pre-installed goodies.

Id Give You 4k For It, No Matter What You Put In It And How You Badge It Its Still A V6 Vin. Kinda Like Mustang Owners Who Put Cobra Badges On Their V6's And Gt's Still Gay.

1. that sounds like a terrible idea
2. 98 trans am's are not near that expensive

It would be no higher, and I think you're purposely starting dumb threads to simply promote your website that is your user name.

That's how I see it anyway. All of these questions are pointless to ask, you already know the answer. Putting an LS1 in a v6 Firebird does not make it an LS1 car, it's still a v6 Firebird via the VIN code. If this were the case, I'd turn my car into a Dick Harrell clone and sell it for 10 times what it's worth.

That somewhat contradicts your other post of a v6 in a Cobra, true it's still a Cobra. Although anyone wanting to buy an SVT Cobra though knows what they are. It will be a junk car, no better than a rolling chassis.

not much if any at all.

cars sell for more bone stock. aftermarket parts drive your value down because its no longer "factory"

Are you also aware that the v6 cars had different rear ends as well?

If you were to do that, I would advise keeping it. Because you can put all that effort into swapping it. And not even get half of what you put into it back.
