Default At what point does the supplied BPV need to be changed in a Procharger kit?

I see a lot of people upgrading the supplied bypass valve that is supplied with the Procharger kit and I was wondering because if was necessary, or purely for the sound.

Is there a certain motor or rwhp?

Certain boost levels?

Purely sound?

I can't predict how much power I will be making, but I'm think between 550-600 rwhp.

I will be running 8 lbs. of boost or that's what I requested. Not sure how close they'll get me because Procharger supplied me with the pulley size for my application.

What pulley is on there?

Anything over the 12 or so psi range, id really look into a new BPV of a sort. You stand risking popping the plenum and also surging the blower leading to decreased belt life.

The stock BOV was designed around the p1sc kit, so i would say a 12psi d1sc is far past the airflow of it lol.

You can change it out for sound if thats what your asking, we offer the ATI and Vortech BPV's , they move alot of air so they will be louder.

I don't know the size, I haven't received the kit. I should see it sometime in the middle of the week.

Does the supplied BPV make any noise at all?

The kit is going on a stock LS2, other than longtubes, x-pipe, high flow cats, and Corsa exhaust. I upgraded to the D1 head unit.

I would like a louder unit. I talked to tech support at Procharger and they didn't recommend a BOV. However, I see lots of people using them.

The stocker does make some, just not alot.

They are correct, do not use a BOV. This does not let air bypass at idle unless a really light spring is in it. We do not reccomend it, as they will surge the blower at idle and part throttle, this can lead to belt slip and blower fin damage.

I looked on Procharger's site, but didn't find anything on BPVs.

Those that I've seen with BOVs on Procharged Vettes have a 7 lb. spring in.

Ok...didn't find it on Procharger's site, but here's what I've come up with so far:

ATI Race Valve (Enclosed) Steel Flange
ATI Race Valve (Open) Aluminum Flange

What's the difference?

How do they compare to the Vortech? Which Vortech do you sell/recommend anyway? I hear the Mondo is a nice unit.

The Race Valve from ATI ProCharger is shown here.

To use the race valve you will need to weld the supplied flange into your system, which is why you choose either an aluminum flange or a steel flange, depending on what type of material your intercooler system is made of. Most people have steel intercooler tubing.

I know longer carry the Vortech Mondo valve as we just didn't have very many people wanting it. Bob

Do you know what type of material the C6 tuner kit is made of? When you say "depending on the intercooler material", do you mean the inlet pipe to the throttle body?

Where does the BPV install at? Is it not where the supplied stocker one is?

Which Vortech valve do you sell if you don't sell the Mondo?

What's louder, the Vortech you sell or the ATI/Procharger?

Which Vortech model do you sell?

Where do they install at?

Do you know what the C6 tuner kit is made of (material)?

What's the difference between open and enclosed?

The word on the street is that the Procharger bpv is louder than the Mondo bpv. I personally got tired of people telling me I had a vacuum leak with my Mondo bpv vented to the outside.

If you like loud get the ati race bypass..http://www.exoticperformanceplus.com...html?item=1261
My car sounds like a jet now. I think around 10psi is max for stock ati bypass.....anymore and you will explode your plenum box

Here is thread when I had a problem with stock bypass
