Default Lost All My Keys

I lost all my keys to my car; the key to start it and the key to the doors/hatch. I know the key has that little chip in it, so how do I go about getting a new set of keys and how much should I be expecting to shell out?

Call the dealer and provide the VIN. They can order a replacement set. Expect to pay around $50.00.

Dealer.

Also they will test to see what Resistor you have the Key and get it fixed up, like said $50.00 is cheap, Either they will get a locksmith or ORDER new keys and change all the door locks.

Also might as well get 2 sets.

My car didn't come with a door key just the FOB.. and I am one not to trust that so i had keys made the stealership.

$6.50 out the door with a good key and they had the info for making the start key also.

should be really easy to get. you need to bring ID and proof of ownership of the car..

Yeah, you'll have to have a valid driver's license as well as some sort of proof of ownership. Title is ideal, but I'm sure proof of insurance would work. Just show up to any GM dealership and they should be able to get you fixed up. Hopefully they have got the key with the correct resistor. I believe there's about 15 different resisitance values.

Last I knew your ignition key will run around $20-$25 and the door key is cheap (No more than $5)

Hope this helps...

Thank you. I was expecting to pay more around $150+ so hearing $50 really set my mind to ease.

Some people on another forum said Ace Hardware can do them if I get the "key number" from the dealership, does anyone know if that can even be done?

as far as I'm aware of that's only for the door key, not the ignition key with resistor

I believe so, they have to enter something into the machine to cut the key (anywhere), I assume thats what you can obtain.

You might need the dealership though for the chip in the key.
