Default BEST READILY available OIL... Mobil vs Castrol vs pennzoil??

I figured why not to post this up.

I used to love mobil then they strayed from there original FULL SYNTHETIC formula then I loved Royal Purple but not sure anymore.. plus I like getting my oil cheap like walmart 5 quart.

so whats the best? I feel mobil 1 which I am currenty using is good but there is better? I am going to try CASTROL SYNTEC next.. (german **** is hard to find I dont care) or Pennzoil Platinum (hear very good things about the amount of synthetic).

Oil is oil, go buy any of those 3 and you'll be good. You're making it too complicated... lol.

If you want to know which one is better for YOUR car, run all 3 of them (not at the same time, heh) and send samples to Blackstone Laboratories or a similar place. Then you can analyze the results and determine which one is better for you.

Pennzoil Platinum comes across as the best of those three...in UOA's.

Royal Purple shows high wear...more than Mobil or PP.

I think oil is oil myself. I could never really tell the difference in them. I think the most important part it the oil filter. I use WIX myself. I work in an auto shop and we had all kinds of filters so we cut them in half and looked at them. Fram and some of the others just had cardboard in them. WiX was so much better not just the crappy cardboard. WIX actually looked like it did in the picture behind the box.

Never ran pennzoil, never will.

I'll run valvoline synpower, mobil 1, royal purple, or castrol syntec....all 5w30, whatever is on sale with a ACdelco ultraguard filter.
