Default Anyone do this?

I was just wondering if anyone ahd taken the center console out and just replaced it with one of those old style rubber shifter boots and chrome plate to hold the boot down. I like old school so how does that sound

FYI - You'll leave the module (SRS or ABS, I can't quite recall but I'm leaning toward SRS) exposed and the mechanics for the e-brake too - too much stuff to address / move / deal with IMHO...

I couldn't stand it. I rest my arm on the center console when I drive.

My cigarettes would roll around all over the floor if I didn't have a console to stick 'em on!!.

You could just ... Not smoke! Smoke tires, not cigarettes!

Yea heh That's why god invented the Crotch. To hold drinks while driving/riding in a sports car! However, when someone wants to race and I load up the converter (foot on brake, foot on gas) with a Super Sized drink in my lap, is awkward on the legs heh

I agree with Formula350, the crotch is for drinks and without my center console I would really be lost.... Not that I wouldent take it out if it was a straight up drag car though

I have been working on designs for a while. The one I have now reduces a lot of weight. On an LT1 it just looks weird w/o a center console. Once I get the LS1 dash in, there will be no center console...

As of now...

Yeah, back in the day when they had no center console and just a rubber boot covering the shifter directly through the floorboard, the e-brake was a foot pedal and there wasn't anything that couldn't be easily covered with carpet/rubber matting down the trans hump. On a 4th gen removing the console would just make it look like a gutted out race car. I guess you could fab a cover for the e-brake lever and relocate the BCM to a more discreet location, but it just ain't worth it imo.

Sara, what do you do with your cigs if you don't smoke them? Just randomly flick them out the window at people and passing cars?
