any one caught with nitrous i was wondering what the fine is for having nitrous in your car hooked up i heard its like a $20,000 fine but im kinda doubting it so any one know how much the fine is

Every state is different. What state do you live in?
Here in NH, its perfectly legal to use on the street, no restrictions what-so-ever!!
I know in Maine you can have it in the car but need to be on the way to or from an 'event' that would justify it.

How does one get caught with nitrous? I thought all the systems are 50 state legal? This is all news to me, and since i am probally going nitrous soon i need to know. How do you find out in your state?

i didnt read the articles but know that you can have Nitrous in your car but the bottle can not be hooked up and you have to be on your way to and from a track. if the bottle is hooked up its a small fine..$25.00 or so. if your caught with it hooked up and/or speeding with it, fines go up to like $100.00-$500.00, depending the violation.

There is no evidence that nitrous was a factor in the incident, but he still wanted to do something about it. "Right after the accident, Abington police told me about it and told me that the nitrous oxide was legal," Shapiro said in an interview with The Intelligencer. "I was astounded."

I wouldn't leave the bottle in the car because of the heat in the summer anyway, you'll be popping the blowoff disks from it getting too hot while the windows and what not are up, seen it happen a couple times.
If you don't mount the bottle in plain sight you'll probably never get caught with it, or, just leave the main line unhooked, from the looks of it, if it's not hooked up then there's nothing they can really say about it.

Anyone knwo the law in Mass I saw Maine and NH law quoted up there.
I have a hatch so hiding it in the trunk is hard to do but for the cops and for onlookers I plan to get a big duffel bag and cutting it along the bottom then sliding the bag over the tank/mounts so that it looks like there is just a duffel bag sitting in my trunk if someone shines their light in the car. That way I can reach back unzip the zipper and open the bottle.. also works like a blanket in colder weather.
I have a hatch so hiding it in the trunk is hard to do but for the cops and for onlookers I plan to get a big duffel bag and cutting it along the bottom then sliding the bag over the tank/mounts so that it looks like there is just a duffel bag sitting in my trunk if someone shines their light in the car. these laws aren't the ones to worry about. the one's you want to worry about is if you get a ***** cop that want's to nail you for hazmat violations. they are the ones that carry the stiff fines. hazmat is diffined as carried in bulk which is 10lbs for no2. btw these are federal laws not state. here's a list of hazmat materials.

here in jersey i know a couple of guys that's got the bottle right in the back window of their third-gens and drive their cars basically every day with out a problem lol. i guess they just haven't found that dick head cop.
